Pitch fibre pipes were originally imported in from America & and within no time at all were installed in new property’s up & down the country from the early 1950’s to the late 1960’s.

In its day pitch fibre was known to be revolutionary as it was relatively cheap to buy in comparison to clay pipes that were available at the time, and also for its long lengths & being lightweight, making it much faster to install and a lot easier to handle. Pitch fibre is made of wood cellulose & impregnated with carefully refined insert coal tar.​

Pitch Fibre pipes were thought to be a modern drainage system at the time however, any pitch driver drain specialist would tell you that it is actually one of the worst types of drainage systems ever invented. We would advise anyone who suspects they may have pitch fibre pipes to arrange a CCTV survey to be carried out.
